5 Times Kim Jong-kook Went Full Beast Mode on Running Man

Kim Jong-kook is an absolute beast on Running Man, so it’s no surprise that he’s Running Man’s Commander. With his quick wit, ferocious strength and athletic ability, Jong-kook would always be the one everyone wanted to beat. But when the odds are stacked up against him, Jong-kook often pulls into his reservoirs and goes full beast mode on the show. This literally means that he gets Mario’s Golden Star and just annihilates anyone standing in his path.
Here are 5 moments when Kim Jong-kook, Running Man’s Commander, went full on beast mode.
#5 Beast Mode On (Ep 195)
Teaming up against the Commander is an absolute must on the show, mostly because no one else can beat him alone. But sometimes, even teaming up against the Commander doesn’t work because he can turn into a beast almost at will. This is evidenced in episode 195, when both the 2PM and Mystic teams came together to oust 2NE1’s Gary and Minzy in the final nametag ripping game. The Commander, feeling the need for justice, was up next and he singlehandedly defeated 5 members from both teams in lightning quick fashion and won the match.
It wasn’t so much of a match than a massacre.
#4 The Battle of the Strongest (Ep 131)
Jong-kook has the speed and the strength to win most nametag ripping matches he goes into, which is one of the reasons why he’s so incredibly feared by almost everyone who goes on the show. Everyone except former UFC fighter Choo Sung-hoon (or Yoshihiro Akiyama), who more than relished the challenge. Remember, this is the same Choo Sung-hoon, mixed martial artist and judo practitioner with plenty of awards under his belt.
The challenge was always mounted up against the Commander, and yet he went close a few times to rip off Sung-hoon’s nametag. Their battle is one of the most intense and exciting ones on Running Man, and while Jong-kook lost out in the end, he had successfully gone toe to toe with a professional.
Watch the battle here: http://on.fb.me/1iD1M7D
#3 Survival of the Fittest (Ep 93)
In the epic, whole day Survival Race, Jong-kook was quickly voted as the first one everyone wanted to eliminate in the beginning. Not only did he manage to survive the first round of 1 v 6, he also quickly became the hunter instead of the hunted.
This went on throughout the entire day until the final mission, which he quickly won as well. This is survival at the fittest level, and an absolute nightmare for everyone else.
#2 Beating Team Evil (Ep 240)
Everyone will tell you that protecting the weakest link on Running Man; Ji Suk-jin is an impossibly difficult task. And to help Suk-jin win a race through ripping off nametags is even more impossible. But Jong-kook took this to task and did all he could to help Suk-jin win. The way he tore off the nametag off the Team Evil member was one of amazing skill and speed.
But it was when he needed to help Suk-jin hold down the final member that really pushed him to his limits. I will say this; Suk-jin may very well be Jong-kook’s kryptonite.
#1 The Epic 20 Minute Struggle (Ep 4)

As mentioned before, other Running Man members and guests often team up against Jong-kook on account of his massive strength. But no other episode on Running Man has successfully shown how absolutely insane Jong-kook’s strength really is than episode 4. In this episode, the Commander was outnumbered by 6 people, all trying to rip off his nametag.
He managed to drag all 6 along for a ride for a whooping 20 minutes before his strength finally gave up. That’s 6 people trying to tear off his nametag, with him not being able to fight back. If that feat isn’t worthy of the Commander title, I don’t know what is.

7 Female Partners That Made Kim Jong Kook Blush on “Running Man”

7 Female Partners That Made Kim Jong Kook Blush on “Running Man”
First, happy birthday to Kim Jong Kook! This singer and variety star is 39 years old this year, born on April 25, 1976. Kim Jong Kook is a talented artist who has had a long musical career, debuting in 1995 as part of the duo Turbo, although he is now more famous as the “Commander” and “Spartakooks” of the popular SBS variety show “Running Man.” He has earned those nicknames due to his competitive and tough nature, but he has also shown he has a soft, cottony interior, which is very visible when he is around women. Let’s take at this softer side of Kim Jong Kook by running through some of his best female partners on “Running Man”!

Shin Bong Sun

This comedienne has a cute crush on Kim Jong Kook and was not afraid to show her affection for him when she appeared on “Running Man,” giggling happily when they are called a married couple.  They make an adorable pair, don’t they? You can catch her crush on Kim Jong Kook in episode 9, episode 43 and episode 56.

Go Ara

Shin Bong Sun might have a rival in the fight for Kim Jong Kook’s affections. Go Ara gave Kim Jong Kook a fierce backhug and, in return, he made sure she was protected in a “couple” game of dodgeball, played in Episode 139.

Moon Geun Young

Kim Jong Kook had practice in dodgeball chivalry before Go Ara with Moon Geun Young. The way he was so shy and smitten with her was probably the cutest thing ever in “Running Man.” Watch him melt with just a single word out of Moon Geun Young’s mouth:
Moon Geun Youn appeared in two episodes, giving Kim Jong Kook plenty of time to crush on her: episode 114 and episode 115.

Uhm Jung Hwa

How about a “noona romance” with Uhm Jung Hwa whom the stars say would be perfect for Kim Jong Kook to marry? She basically proclaims him as hers in Episode 183.

Kim Min Seo

Appropriate for an episode featuring actresses who play villainous roles, Kim Min Seo was not afraid to anger the “Commander,” describing Kim Jong Kook as a “sister-in-law” when he nags her, and slapping him in the mouth, albeit for a skit (Episode 213).

Ha Yeon Soo

With Ha Yeon Soo, Kim Jong Kook reenacted his greatest TV moment withYoon Eun Hye, and showed his weakness for the opposite sex when he quickly answering the adorable actress’ request for him to sing his hit song, “One Man.”

Ha Yeon Soo also showed herself to be just as competitive as Kim Jong Kook, ordering him not to back off until she said so when they were playing the “pepero” game. It’s funny to see Park Seo Joon freaking out at how close they get, especially when he and Song Ji Hyo were just as close (Episode 198).

Song Ji Hyo

Perhaps Kim Jong Kook’s greatest female partner is not a guest, but someone right there in “Running Man” every week with him. Put “Ace” and “Commander” together and you have a winning combination that might rival the “Monday Couple.” You can watch the two team up in Episode 79.

Despite the album being banned by all major TV broadcast stations for its 19+ content, his songs still managed to top several charts. He and long time collaborator Jung In later went on to formed the duo, Jung In & Gary. The two released the chart topping single “Your Scent” and “Bicycle.”
Aside from his own work, Gary has been featured in works by many famous artists such as Psy, Baek Ji Young, Lee Hyori, Dynamic Duo, and MC Mong. He is also currently a cast member of the variety showRunning Man.
Biography
Gary was born on February 24, 1978. His nickname in middle school was “Gae” (meaning “dog” in Korean), which he adapted to become his stage name, after deciding between “gaemi” (ant) and “Gary”. In his younger years, he was more interested in dancing than rapping. Gary revealed that he participated in a dance competition and actually won, defeating other competitors, Jang Woo Hyuk and Moon Hee Jun, who eventually became members of H.O.T. Lee Soo Man scouted all three boys, and offered them a contract to SM Entertainment. Ultimately, Gary rejected the offer.
Gary went to Yong In University and trained as a bodyguard.[citation needed] He was an amateur boxer for 10 years and his qualifications in various martial arts sum up to 8th dan.
Musical career

X-Teen & Honey Family

In 1997, Gary joined X-Teen, a hip-hop group where he met his future Leessang partner, Gil. Gary participated in the group’s album release in 1998 before being dropped along with Gil. In an interview, Gary said they had neither the look or the talent which made them quit the group.
Afterwards, Gary and Gil ended up joining “Honey Family” and released two albums in 1999 and 2000. Gary took part of the responsibility for the break up of the group by stating that he “started feeling like a celebrity” after their initial success. Gary, Gil, and fellow Honey Family member Diggity decided to form “Leessam Trio (“sam” means three in Korean)”. They released a compilation album called 2000 Korea, in the year 2000. When Diggity left the group, Gary and Gil changed the name to LeeSsang.

Leessang

Leessang was created in 2002 by Gary and Gil. So far, the group has produced 8 albums with numerous hits. Although the duo achieve critical success from their earlier albums, they remained underground. Their last three albums, Hexagonal, Asura Balbalta, and Unpluggedbroke numerous records and guided their entry to the mainstream Korean music industry. All the songs in the albums entered the top positions on all major and minor charts upon release and held the position for at least three days, achieving a very rare “all kill”.The title song from Asura Balbalta, “Turn Off the TV” managed to stay at the top of the Melon chart for 25 days in a row.
Their success on the chart was dubbed the “LeeSsang syndrome”, “all-kill of music charts”, “long-term control of charts”, “music textbook”, and “musicians’ mentor.”

Solo Debut

In January 2014 he released a mini album, Mr.Gae.Three major TV broadcast stations, MBC, KBS, and SBS, all deemed the album unfitting for broadcast, stating reasons such as explicit lyrics and being too sexually provocative. Despite the ban, Gary‘s title track “Shower Later” clenched the number 1 spot on 8 real-time music charts.
Gary later commented on the ban saying that he felt confined by his image and wanted to break the mold.

Collaboration With Jung-In

In May 2014, Gary and Jung-in released their first collaboration “Your Scent.” The lyrics was penned by Gary while Jung-In and Duble Sidekick produced the music. The song was an immediate hit. Two hours after the release, the song already placed first on five real-time charts, MelOn, Olleh, Genie, Bugs, and Cyworld. The song eventually reached the top position on all eleven charts, thus achieving an all kill. It also managed to keep its throne on top of the charts for 5 days straight, showing it’s high popularity.Despite not having any live promotions, Gary and Jung-In took the win on June 7 Music Core. In a testament to its popularity, the Gaon Chart ranked the single #6 on the year end national digital single ranking.
The two later released their second collaboration “Bicycle” in September 2014.

Second Solo Album

In September 2015, Gary released his second solo album, 2002. The title track of the album is “Get Some Air” featuring Mi-woo of Leessang Company. Following its release, “Get Some Air” took the no.1 spot on major musical charts in South Korea for several days.
